Arkansas Framework:
C.5.K.3 Identify voting procedures by participating in a classroom voting process (e.g., which book to read, what game to play)
During this lesson children will be learning about the process of voting. First, the kids will each fill out a voter registration card. Then, the students will need to bring their voter registration cards to the designated voting area. They will then fill out ballots and place them in the ballot box.

C.5.K.3 Identify voting procedures by participating in a classroom voting process (e.g., which book to read, what game to play)
This lesson helps students understand the basic idea of voting and how voting works. First, you will read the kids the book Duck For President. Then, you will practice voting by raising hands and voting on favorite colors or food. Afterwards the kids will hold a vote using buckets and popsicle sticks to see where they will go to read the book later.
Arkansas Framework:
G.1.K.8 Recognize the difference between maps and globes
G.1.K.9 Recognize that maps and globes represent models of the Earth
There are four different activities in this lesson. Activity one focuses on just introducing maps and globes; basically learning what they are. Activity two focuses on learning about the symbols on a map. Activity three focuses on understanding cardinal directions. The fourth activity is to find out what children have learned about maps and globes.
Arkansas Frameworks:
G.1.K.7 Identify different types of weather
Students begin by making observations about weather picture cards they have been given. As groups the students will then place the cards on a sorting mat based on the observations they made. The students will then identify why they grouped the cards the way they did. They will give the groups names such as rainy, windy, sunny, cloudy, etc. A discussion will follow.
